A policeman found hanging in his room in Meerut

Meerut: A head constable published within the Brahmapuri PS (police station) in WP’s Meerut dist. has been identified hanging in his own quarters in the building.

The sufferer Mange Ram has been in-charge of the station makhana (storeroom for arms & ammunition).

Police officer said that the reason for the suicide is not evident, however a prescription for anti-depressants has been recovered from his own pocket.

Sources stated that Mange Ram last spoke to his own family (4) on the phone about five p.m. on Wed. & afterwards left for his own quarters.

Constable Ajay Kumar, his own roommate, stated, “I approached the quarters about eight p.m., however identified the room locked from inside. Even after banging on the door repeatedly, there has been no reaction. I even attempted calling him on his own phone however to no avail. Afterwards I realized that something has been amiss & broke open the door with the support of remaining. We identified him hanging from that ceiling.”

Supervisor of Police (city) Akhilesh Narain stated, “The motive behind the suicide is not evident, however we’re looking in all angles. An investigation is on.”

Maintaining in mind the raising no. of suicides amongst the police personnel because of pressure & different reasons, the WP Police had previous year, chalked out a schedule to cope with the crises in a professional way by engaging experts.

The schedule also included offering remedial steps on a normal basis for everyone personnel, specially constables & sub-inspectors, discussing their own job profiles.
