Andhra Corona victim’s body carried to cremation ground on JCB

Amaravati: In a shocking incident, the body of a COVID-19-19 sufferer has been carried on a JCB earth mover to the cremation field by municipal employees in AP’s Srikakulam dist. on Fri.

The incident occurred in Udayapuram region of Palasa municipality after the 72-year-old passed away of COVID-19.

The PPE-clad municipal labour positioned the body covered in a cloth on the front portion of the machine & drove to the cremation field.

Following the incident, Dist. Collector J. Nivas discontinued Palasa Municipal Commissioner C. Nagender Kumar & the sanitary inspector. He also instructed a probe into the incident.

The person, himself a previous staff within the municipality, passed away in house following illness. He’d gone under COVID-19-19 test throughout door-to-door drive by this regional officials. The record of the test also had come across the time of his own demise.

As neighbors put stress on the family (4) to delete the body, the demised’s granddaughter, a govt volunteer within the town, named the municipal employees to shift the body for cremation.

Palasa is already within the grip of COVID-19-19 fear & traders in this town & different parts of the dist. are voluntarily observing the lock-down.

Meantime, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President & previous CM N. Chandrababu Naidu tweeted that he has been uterly stunned to watch the demised bodies of COVID-19 sufferers wrapped in plastic & transported on JCBs & tractors. “They deserve respect & dignity even in demise. Shame on Y.S. Jagan govt for this inhumane medication of the mortal remains,” he tweeted with video footage.
