Andhra govt requests Centre to confer Bharat Ratna upon SPB

Amaravati: The AP govt on Sun. appealed the Center to confer Bharat Ratna–the largest civilian award upon the renowned singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who moved far away in Chennai on Fri. because of post-COVID-19 complications.

“This going to be the largest recognition to his own remarkable work (5) that continued for five decades & stays in our memory forever,” wrote AP chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy in his own letter to PM Narendra Modi.

Stating that AP has been fortunate to be the birthplace of the nice singer, Jagan wrote that the untimely death of SPB had caused plenty of distress to fans around the nation & also the Intl. music fraternity.  Jagan furthermore observed that the “unending saga of his own staggering achievements go beyond music.”

The chief minister stated that the prolific singer had sung over 40,000 tracks in his own mom tongue Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, & Hindi & had won innumerable awards involving 6 domestic movie awards, 25 Nandi awards of AP, & numerous different awards. He has been a recipient of the Padma Shri (2001) & Padma Bhushan (2011) from that Govt of India(In).

“As a tribute to the legendary singer for his own outstanding contribution within the ground of music & art, I appeal you to confer the Bharat Ratna upon SPB,” Jagan concluded.

Meantime, fans also created an on-line petition insisting Bharat Ratna for the late singer on different platforms, involving Alter.org. The petition already has over 26,000 signatories.
