California Probes Amazon Over Worker Safety Amid COVID-19

San Francisco: Several govt officials in California(CA) have opened interrogations into issues over safety steps put in place in Amazon centers to protect its labour from COVID-19, the media recorded, citing a court filing.

California(CA)’s Attorney Gen. Xavier Becerra is probing Amazon’s office practises, the Division of Occupational Safety & Health, & the San Francisco Dept. of People Health, as per the court filing on Mon. by San Francisco superior court judge Ethan Schulman, The Guardian recorded.

The filing follows a complaint took by a worker in Amazon’s San Francisco warehouse who charged the firm of not putting in place sufficient steps to protect the employees.

In a lawsuit registered on Jun 11, the Amazon worker, Chiyomi Brent, claimed that the on-line retail giant put labour in “needless risk” as they have been needed to distribute particular equipment & have been also not permitted additional time to retain physical distancing steps.

Informing that the Amazon worker couldn’t show immediate harm, Schulman added further that the California(CA) state officials have been best suited to address the issues of Brent.

Over the past quite a few mos, Amazon has declared multiple new steps aimed in maintaining its labour safe. Although, the firm has also faced criticism from previous & current employees about its safety steps.
