Amaravati: After a people uproar, the AP police on Tue. detained a govt officer, from discontinued from service, on charge of brutally assaulting a differently-abled lady colleague in workplace after she advised him to wear a face mask.

The incident took place within the Tourism Dept.’s workplace in Nellore on Jun 27 however had come to light on Tue. after the shocking pictures reported on CCTV appeared on the social media(SM).
AP Tourism Development (devt) Corporation (APTDC) declared the suspension of Deputy Manager C.A. Bhaskar who attacked the lady colleague.
The Nellore police officer said the officer has been booked the same day under Indian Penal Code Sections 354 (assault (or) offender enforce to lady with aim to outrage her modesty), 355 (assault (or) offender enforce with aim to dishonour human) & 324 (Voluntarily causing wound by dangerous weapons (or) means).
“The charged has been detained & is being sent in judicial remand. Nellore dist. police are extremely sensitive to any violation (or) offence over ladies. Ladies safety is our top priority,” it tweeted.
Director Gen. of Police Gautwam Sawang praised the Nellore police for taking quick action.
“Offence over ladies is objectionable. We condemn the Nellore incident & action was taken over the charged for manhandling the lady officer,” the police chief stated.
The DGP stated Disha PS (police station) would be taking up furthermore inquiry within the complaint & instructed it to make sure that the probe is finished in a week & a charge sheet registered.

The CCTV footage of the offence went viral on the social media(SM) & triggered people outrage. Police officer said the officer got (1) angry & felt offended after the lady colleague advised him to wear the face mask to include the spread of COVID-19.
Police officer said the charged’s samples have been received for COVID-19 test according to the protocol & he’d be produced before a magistrate.
NCW ‘stunned’
The Domestic Commission for Ladies (NCW) on Tue. taken suo motu cognizance of an incident of assault on a differently-abled lady in AP, informing it has been “perturbed & stunned by this incident”.
“The Commission is perturbed & stunned by this incident of atrocity dedicated over a specially-abled lady staff by a human who’s holding an accountable position in a time when the Govt of India(In) is also emphasising on the want for inclusion of the specially-abled in the largest level,” NCW stated in an announcement.
The Commission wrote a letter to D.G. Sawang, DGP, AP Police, after it had come across a Twitter post by a lady attaching a CCTV footage wherein it’s witnessed that a differently-abled lady is mercilessly beaten by a Deputy Manager of the AP Tourism Dept.
