COVID-19: TS records biggest single-day jump, crosses 20K mark

HYDERABAD: With a report single-day spike in COVID-19 instances, Telangana (TL) on Fri. crossed 20,000 mark, overtaking both Rajasthan(RJ) & WB in terms of overall no. of infections till now.

A day after recording 1,213 instances, the state reached a new high of 1,892 positive instances, pushing its tally to 20,462.

Telangana has as of now climbed to the 6th position within the list of states with most instances.

The state also recorded 8 demises, taking the number of deaths to 283.

Of the new instances reported on Fri., hot spot Greater Hyderabad(Hyd) alone reported 1,658 instances, that is also the steepest single-day leap.

As per the director of people health & family (4) welfare, 5,965 samples have been tested during this last 24 hours. This is the largest no. of tests to be held in a single day. With this, the state has crossed 1 lakh mark within the cumulative no. of tests finished.

The state also saw 1,126 citizens recovering from that disease. Authorities stated the cumulative figure of recoveries rised to 10,195.

An overall of 9,984 citizens are undergoing medication in hospitals (or) in house.

New instances have been recorded from 24 out of 33 dists within the state. Awhile Greater Hyderabad(Hyd) continued to be the worst-affected, Ranga reddy & Medchal dist. bordering the state capital lodged 56 & 44 instances.

In a big spike, 41 instances have been recorded from Warangal rural dist. Sangareddy, Nalgonda & Mahabubnagar dists also recorded the instances in double figures.

Meantime, the Health Dept. has ruled to hold the statistics of one such private laboratories after it recorded an extremely high sample positivity rate. “The stated lab has recorded 2,672 positive instances over 3,726 overall samples tested.

The Positivity rate is 71.seven percent that is a gross variation & discrepancy within the notified positivity rate of COVID-19 till now. The tested negatives are only 962 out of 3,726 samples. The problem needs to be evaluated by an expert committee & till afterwards the statistics of the stated lab was kept under abeyance,” stated the bulletin.
