Ankara: The busts of the names who left their own marks in the Turkish history erected in the Black Sea area of Ordu’s city center by the municipality stirred a nationwide discussion.
The statue of Dirilis Ertugrul Gazi, that had been erected in the scope of the project, changed out not to appear as Ertugrul Gazi, however, Engin Altan, the lead actor who performed the historical figure in the series “Resurrection Ertugrul” broadcasted on the state-owned TRT-1.
A total of 20 busts made of bronze & basalt stone by artist Omer Gencturk have been placed in the square ahead of the city hall on June 4. Although, both the citizens living in this city & social media(SM) consumers said that the bust with Dirilis Ertuğrul Gazi’s name on it resembles actor Düzyatan in 1st glance.
The bust had been deleted by the municipal officers & an administrative inquiry had been launched over the persons responsible as the discussion heated up. “We have been irritated by the truth that the bust of Ertuğrul Gazi resembles Engin Altan Düzyatan, the leading actor in the Resurrection Ertuğrul series & the same day the bust in query had been removed,” stated it he municipality in a written announcement.
“Necessary inquiry was initiated regarding those responsible for negligence. We thank every public for the sensitivity they’ve shown,” the announcement added.
Recently, the statue of actor Düzyatan had been built in place of Ertuğrul Gazi in the northwestern area of Bilecik. Dirilis Ertuğrul Gazi led a tiny band of warriors under the leadership of Anatolian Seljuk sultan in the mid-13th century.
With his own demise in 1280, the leadership of his own small tribe passed onto his own son Osman, who’s known to have established the Ottoman state in 1299. Ertuğrul Gazi’s personal life has come to attract huge interest over the last few years because of the popularity of the TV series Diriliş Ertuğrul.
The Turkish TV series has taken several nations, mainly Pakistan recently, by storm. As per the state-run Pakistan TV (PTV), 133 M citizens have so far watched the drama series by April 25- May 14. Also, its daily episodes are trending on YouTube in Pakistan each day.
