Emirates Cricket Board receives Letter of Intent from BCCI to host IPL

Dubai(AE-DU):  The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on Mon. affirmed that it’s got the officer ‘Letter of Aim’ from that BCCI accepting their own offer to host the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) within the UAE.

Last week, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel had declared the dates of the tournament, Sep 19-Nov 8, & stated the tournament going to be conducted within the UAE subject to Indian’s govt’s sanction.

“We’ve got the (officer) letter & as of now await on the call from that Indian Govt that going to ink the final deal,” stated Mubashshir Usmani, Emirates Cricket Board Secretary-Gen., in an announcement.

Awhile the Indian govt’s sanction is waited, Usmani said both Boards have “fully mobilised & have instigated discussions with the appropriate officials, involving their own respective internal working-committees, in preparation of hosting the tournament in a safe, protected environment”.

Hosting the eight-team IPL in a foreign spot amidst the COVID-19 danger is going to be a main logistical challenge. Although, the UAE economy is going to benefit substantially by hosting the T20 extravaganza.

“There have been numerous factors that influence the activities & logistics of hosting what’s the globe’s most exciting, famous & lucrative tournament. comment Usmani.

“This is a massive movement of citizens & equipment & we as of now want to bring within the experts to debate all elements of UAE hosting the IPL.

“This includes the Abu Dhabi, Dubai(AE-DU) & Sharjah Sports Councils, Abu Dhabi, Dubai(AE-DU) & Sharjah Tourism Bodies & the respective Govt entities – like the Police Enforces & the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention,” he stated.

All this govt entities of UAE have proven experience of delivering an event of this magnitude, Usmani stated.

“All of whom have had powerful, proven experience in such operations & we’ll work (5) together to ascertain the finest practises to help & deliver on a successful edition.”

UAE has the experience of hosting the globe’s largest T20 league, having staged a part of the 2014 edition because of the gen. elections in India(In).

“We’ve a sound, solid understanding of what’s needed, & to whom we want to consult & engage with from this early phase using to the close of the Tournament,” stated Usmani.

The IPL Governing Council is awaited to meet in order to finalize organisational schedules for the tournament, involving issuing SOPs that the groups are waiting.

The tournament is awaited to be conducted under stringent safety procedures. The COVID-19 status within the UAE seems to under curb with over 6000 active instances.
