Hyderabad adds new landmark as ‘hanging bridge’ thrown open

Hyderabad(Hyd), September 25 : Hyderabad(Hyd) added further a new landmark on Fri. with the opening of “extradosed” cable resided bridge across Durgam Cheruvu lake in Hitec City, the IT hub.

Telangana (TL)’s Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development (devt) K.T. Rama Rao, with Union Minister of State for House G. Kishan Reddy, inaugurated the bridge, with a four-lane elevated corridor connecting Road Number 45 in Jubilee Hills to Madhapur.

Invoiced as the globe’s longest span concrete deck extradosed cable resided bridge, it has been thrown open for the people amidst dazzling fireworks that lit up the skies over the IT cluster housing numerous technology giants.

Termed as an engineering(engr.) phenomenon, the 233.85 meter long bridge, constructed in a cost of INR 184 cr, going to be an added further recreational point & tourism attraction within the historical city.

Rama Rao described it as “the other jewel” within the “city of pearls”.

On weekends, only pedestrians going to be permitted on the city’s 1st hanging “bridge”, designed & constructed by building main Landamp;T within the Engineering(engr.) Procurement & Building (EPC) mode.

As per Greater Hyderabad(Hyd) Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities, the bridge has the globe’s longest precast segmental span of 233.85 meter in concrete for a cable resided bridge.

The cable resided bridge portion is 435 m long, involving the reaches in both ends, & 25.eight m wide with a overall of 52 stay cables.

Authorities say 4,800 metric tonnes of steel, 428 tonnes of high-tensile strand, 287 tonnes of stay-cables & 26,600 cubic meters of concrete have been utilized within the building of the iconic structure.

Except for the cables that have been procured from Germany, everything else has been sourced from India(In).

A key feature of the structure is architectural lighting, that going to add attraction throughout holidays, festivals & special occasions like Independence Day & Republic Day.

There going to be 25 various themes of the multi-coloured lighting depending on the occasion.

The bridge was integrated with 1,740 meter elevated corridor, constructed in a cost of INR 150 cr.

This project has cut the gap between Jubilee Hills & Madhapur by 2 km & is awaited to make sure smooth flow of traffic from Jubilee Hills towards MindSpace Junction & different parts of the IT dist..
