Hyderabadis Rush to Stock Up Tobacco with Looming Lockdown

Hyderabad(Hyd): On Tue. early in the morning, citizens have been witnessed rushing to wholesale chaliyas (paan stores) to purchase tobacco products, cigarettes, paan masala, guthka & different items utilized for paan because of speculation over lock-down in regions in GHMC limits from Jul 3.

Throwing physical distancing rules to the wind, hundreds of citizens in various parts of on Tue. in the morning dashed to the wholesaler & market places for buying all tobacco & different products that people largely are used to chewing.

Because of huge no. of clients in markets of old city enforcing wholesalers to close down shops in spite of govt expanding the night curfew until nine prime minister within the night.

Such incidents have been seen in Eidi Bazar, Golnaka, Mir Alam Mandi & Begum Bazar where the shopkeepers had to intervene & close their own wholesale stores. Also, discussing the breach of physical distancing norm enforced to include the spread of COVID-19.

Previously during this 1st stage of the lock-down, tobacco addicts in this city have been disappointed because they have been unable to purchase paan, guthka, cigarettes, paan Masala & chaliya so this has given them plenty of pain.

These addicts have been buying all these tobacco products in threefold times the MRP cost. So to be on safe side & to keep a stock of 1 to 2 mos, huge no. of people have been buying tobacco products because of the speculation over lock-down from Jul Three in Hyderabad(Hyd).
