India’s Aug crude steel output falls 4%, China logs 8% rise

New Delhi(DL), September 27 : Production of crude steel in India(In) in Aug declined 4.Four percent on a year-on-year basis to 8.48 mln tonne (Mt), as per statistics from that Globe Steel Association.

During this same period previous year, India(In) had produced 8.87 mln tonne of crude steel.

World-wide, although, crude steel production marked a marginal raise & China reported 8.Four percent rise in 94.Eight mln tonne.

In an announcement, the Globe Steel Association stated that overall steel production for the 64 nations reporting to it has been 156.Two mln tonne in Aug 2024, a 0.Six percent rise compared to Aug 2019.

It furthermore observed that because of the ongoing challenges introduced by this COVID-19-19 epidemic, numerous of the estimates may be revised with next mo’s production update.

“China produced 94.Eight Mt of crude steel in Aug 2024, an rise of 8.Four percent compared to Aug 2019. India(In) produced 8.Five Mt of crude steel in Aug 2024, down 4.Four percent on Aug 2019,” it stated.

Japan produced 6.Four mln tonne of crude steel in Aug 2024, down 20.Six percent compared to Aug 2019. South Korea’s steel production has been 5.Eight mln tonne in Aug, down by 1.Eight percent on a year-on-year basis.

Germany produced 2.Eight mln tonne of crude steel in Aug 2024, down 13.Four percent.

The US produced 5.Six mln tonne of crude steel in Aug 2024, a decrease of 24.Four percent compared to Aug 2019.
