Odisha: Bodies of mother, pregnant daughter decompose on the roadside

Alleging police inaction, the family (4) with the residents are dissenting from Sun. in the Manapada village in Mahulia panchayat within the Rajnagar PS (police station) region.

Pramila Nath (45) & her daughter Satyapriya (22) have been recorded missing on Sep 19, Sub Divisional Police Official (SDPO), Ranjan Kumar Dey stated.

A day thereafter, their own bodies have been identified in a pond within the vicinity of the village, he stated.

The postmortem has been held & the bodies have been handed over to their own relatives.

Satyapriya has been identified to be in an sophisticated phase of pregnancy during this autopsy, Dey stated.

The peasants are alleging that both the ladies have been murdered, however police are trying to cover up the issue.

A complaint of unnatural demise under section-174 of the Offender Process Code (CrPC) has been lodged after the post- mortem. Subsequently, a complaint of killing under section-302 IPC has been also lodged & a suspect was arrested, the official stated.

Police have dealt with the complaint in accordance with medico-legal proof, he stated.

“We’ve named upon the residents to cremate the bodies that have decomposed,” Dey added further.
