Sensex rallies over 300 pts in early trade; Nifty tops 11,400

Mumbai (Bombay): National equity benchmark Sensex surged over 300 points in early trade on Fri.

commanded by gains in index-heavyweights HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries & Infosys amidst powerful cues from global markets.

The BSE Sensex has been trading 330.76 points (or) 0.87 percent higher in 38,551.15; awhile NSE Nifty has been up 98.05 points (or) 0.87 percent in 11,410.25.

PowerGrid has been the top gainer within the Sensex pack, raising about three percent, succeeded by SBI, HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries & Infosys.

On the different hand, Bharti Airtel has been the sole laggard in early trade.

Within the recent session, the Sensex closed in 38,220.39, down 394.40 points (or) 1.02 percent, awhile the broader Nifty slumped 96.20 points (or) 0.84 percent to finish in 11,312.20.

As per traders, apart from stock-specific action, national bourses followed a positive trend in global equities.

Bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo & Seoul have been trading with substantial gains in mid-day deals.

Stock exchanges on Wall Street stopped on a positive note in an overnight session.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude has been trading 0.33 percent higher in USD 45.05 per barrel.
