Sikh taxi driver assaulted, called ‘Taliban’ in UK

London: An India(In)-born Sikh taxi driver has been subjected to verbal & physical abuse by passengers he drove from a casino in this city of Reading in south east England, prompting a UK police enforce to start an inquiry.

Vaneet Singh, 41, stated that a crowd of 4 people slapped & shoved him, & inquired are you Taliban after he got them from that Grosvenor Casino in Reading, Berkshire, within the early hours of Sun..

One such 4 also attempted to delete his own turban.

“It has been horrible, actually frightening, I’ll never work (5) the nightshift again. I’m still quite scared,” he informed the BBC.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for testifies as they inquire the record of an assault.

Singh, who performed as a music teacher in a educational institution in Slough, Berkshire, changed to taxi driving after his own teaching job has been stalled during this COVID-19 epidemic.

The musician, who lives in Tilehurst with his own spouse & 3 kids, stated he was left shaken up by this assault & going to be avoiding night shifts.

“It’s a quite bad experience. It’s my religion so I respect my turban,” he stated.

One such 4 passengers, all described as white, pulled in his own turban as he has been driving & slapped him on the head, awhile remaining kicked & punched the back of the driver’s seat.

He states he attempted to clarify the religious significance of the turban to them & inquired them not to touch it.

He recalled the passengers being well behaved in the begin of the journey however “totally turned” as it went on.

Singh, who’s suffering from aches & pains from the incident, is persuaded the attack has been racist & believes he has been a sufferer of hate offence.

Thames Valley Police are yet to affirm their own line of investigation within the assault complaint.
