St Andrews School and nine others found guilty for charging exorbitant fees

Hyderabad(Hyd): 10 private educational institutions in Hyderabad(Hyd) were identified charging outrageous dues under multiple categorizations over the govt’s directive. These educational institution managements have been identified violating Govt Order (GO) 46, that has been released previously on Apr 7.

According to the GO, the educational institutions have been permitted to collect only tuition dues for the academic yr. 2024-21, in see of the COVID-19 lock down.

The GO reads, “Maintaining in see the hardship caused by lock-down because of COVID-19, the Telangana (TL) State Cabinet moved Solution that educational institutions shan’t rise any kinda dues throughout academic yr. 2024-21 & shall charge only tuition fee on monthly basis until furthermore orders.”

Although, violating the order, multiple educational institutions were identified to contain different expenses into the tuition fee category, thus exploiting the parents.

On Fri., St Andrews Educational institution in Bowenpally, has been identified guilty of collecting massive amounts of fee, by deceiving the parents. Previously in Jul, a show of rallies have been organised over the educational institution Mgmt accusing them of charging outrageous dues. The parents came together outdoor the educational institution, violating the lock down rules to register their own dissent.

Subsequently, they registered a case with the officials concerned, following that an investigation has been started. Within the investigation held by this Deputy Inspector R Suman, it has been well-established that the educational institution has been collecting extra dues like annual fee, term fee, late fee, computer fee, teacher recruitment benefits, miscellaneous fee and so on– & involving them within the ‘tuition fee.’

“Because of the lock down, the govt had allowed educational institutions to collect only tuition fee from that parents, however these educational institutions were violating the govt’s order & collecting different dues too. Throughout our inquiry, we’ve identified that 10 such private educational institutions have been violating the govt’s directive, & we released show-cause notices to them,” stated Hyderabad(Hyd) Dist. Education Official, Venkata Narasamma.

According to the GO, the action over non-compliance is elimination of the educational institution’s recognition, revoking the No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted for affiliation to different boards, & initiation of action over the educational institution Mgmt under different appropriate acts & regulations.

Similarly, multiple educational institutions have been identified violating the GO within the neighboring Ranga reddy & Medchal dists. As per records, at the least 19 educational institutions in Ranga reddy dist. have been released notices for the violations.
