Swapna in judicial custody till Oct 8 in gold smuggling case

Kochi: A Special NIA court here on Fri. again sent Swapna Suresh, the prime charged within the Kerala(KL) gold smuggling complaint, in judicial custody until Oct 8.

Swapna has been in Domestic Inquiry Agency’s custody for the last 4 days & has been introduced in court after questioning.

She informed the court that she’d like to be moved from Thrissur prison, following that the court instructed that she be shifted to a jail near here.

Even though her judicial custody has been extended, the NIA tandem reported the court that it’d want to interrogate her furthermore within the complaint that has caused a political storm in Kerala(KL).

On Thu., the NIA had questioned her within the presence of now-suspended Sr. IAS official M Sivasankar for over 8 hours. Swapna has gone on report to say that Sivasankar, a previous Principal Secretary of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, has been her mentor.

The complaint 1st had come to light when PS Sarith, a previous staff of the UAE Consulate here, has been detained by this Customs on Jul five when he has been reportedly facilitating the smuggling of 30 kg gold in a diplomatic baggage from Dubai(AE-DU) to Thiruvananthapuram.

Swapna & her associate Sandip Nair have been detained by this NIA from Bengaluru on Jul 11.
