Tamil Singer, Actress Paravai Muniyamma Dies from Age-related Ailments

Celebrity Paravai Muniyamma and folk singer expired on Sunday in Madurai. The octogenarian was suffering from ailments for a couple of decades.

She shot to fame in 2003 along with her part in the movie Dhool, where she starred alongside celebrities Vikram and Jyothika. Her tune Madurai veeran turned into a massive hit and she moved on to star in many Tamil movies.

One of her other memorable onscreen appearances was with actor and comic Vivekh at the movie Kadhal Sadugudu. She starred in Kovil, Devathaiyai Kanden, Thoranai and Thamizh Padam Amongst Others.

As an artist, she gave several performances overseas. In a meeting with The Hindu in 2004 she’d said -“My abroad programs stand testimony to how the human race has an unquenchable enthusiasm for folk culture and art. Folk songs can’t be withered off by disco, rock or jazz”.

She had a stint on tv along with her series where she showcased recipes.
