Uttar Pradesh: Man gets 7-year jail for killing a protester

Muzaffarnagar: A court here on Fri. sentenced a person to seven-year imprisonment for killing a protester throughout an agitation 2 yrs. back.

The extra dist. sessions judge, Om Veer Singh, also enforced a fine of INR 55,000 on the charged after detecting him guilty underSection 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to killing) of the IPC & the Arms Act.

As per govt lawyer Omprakash Upadhyay, during this agitation over the claimed dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act here on Apr 2, 2018, a Dalit protester, Amresh, has been shot passed.

After the incident, police had lodged the complaint over the charged, Ramsharan, & recovered the pistol utilized within the offence.
